John Richard Jones, M.D.

CURRICULUM VITAE

John Richard Jones, M.D., F.A.C.G., completed Internal Medicine training in 1981 and Gastroenterology training in 1986. He is currently Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Pharmacy. He served as Chief of Medicine at the Wynn Army Community Hospital and Chief of Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine at Womack Army Medical Center during his army tenure until his retirement in 1988. He served as an Associate Professor at the Southern Illinois University from 1988-1989 and has been active on staff at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital since 1989. He is currently an Associate Professor at Methodist College working with the Physician's Assistance Program. He is the senior member of the group. He is married to Jackie Y. Jones and is blessed with a daughter, Keren Keoni Jones, and a son , Jeremy Reuben Jones. Dr. Jones is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Physicians, and the North Carolina Medical Society. He is a member of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and has been active in youth activities here in Fayetteville.

Valli P. Kodali, MD

CURRICULUM VITAE

Valli P. Kodali, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.G., completed his training in Internal Medicine, and fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1994 at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. He completed additional fellowship training in Liver Diseases at the University of Miami School of Medicine and advanced training in Therapeutic Endoscopy at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has conducted various scientific research projects and presented scientific papers at various national meetings. He published scientific papers in various peer medical journals. Dr. Kodali received the American College of Gastroenterology Senior Fellow Award in 1993 and 1995. He was elected to Fellowship in the American College of Physicians ( F.A.C.P. ) and the American College of Gastroenterology ( F.A.C.G. ) in recognition of significant professional achievement and superior competence within the field of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received a National Merit Scholarship during medical school. Dr. Kodali is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the North Carolina Medical Society. He has been on various national gastroenterological and North Carolina Medical Society committees. He is married to Usha R. Kodali, M.D. and has two sons, Aneesh and Anudeep.

John E. Poulos, M.D.

CURRICULUM VITAE

John E. Poulos, M.D., completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa Florida and fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1998 at the University School of Medicine, St. Louis Missouri. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is a former Fulbright nominee, and was recognized by the American College of Physicians as Internal Medicine Resident of the Year. He was also recognized by Who’s Who in the South and Southwest regions of the United States. Dr. Poulos has been an invited speaker at national meetings of the American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association and American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Physicians, and American Association for the Advancement of Liver Disease. Dr. Poulos has also received a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health for his work in the study of liver diseases and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals. He is married to Dr. Maria Poulos and has one daughter, Elizabeth, and one son, Emanuel.

William F. Vorder Bruegge, M.D.

CURRICULUM VITAE

William F. Vorder Bruegge, M.D., a native of McLean, Virginia, received his M.D. degree from the University of Virginia in 1981. He completed his Internal Medicine training and a Gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He was Chief of Womack Army Medical Center’s Gastroenterology Service at Fort Bragg, NC before joining Fayetteville Gastroenterology Associates in 1995. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology , North Carolina Medical Society, and Cumberland County Medical Society. Dr. Vorder Bruegge has served as Chief of Medicine at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He is married to Julia E. Little, M.D., and has 4 daughters, Martha, Ruth, Eugenie, Mary.

Arvind Kumar, M.D.

Arvind Kumar, M.D., completed his training in Internal Medicine at Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, PA and fellowship in Gastroenterology in 2000 at Penn State Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Gastroenterological Association. He has published several articles during his fellowship. Dr. Kumar received a National Merit Scholarship during college and medical school. He graduated as valedictorian from college and summa cum laude from medical school. He is married to Prabha and is blessed with two daughters Prartiksha and Priyanka and a son, Abhishek.

Dimiter H. Zafirov, M.D.

CURRICULUM VITAE

Dimiter H. Zafirov, M.D., completed Internal Medicine training at Northeastern Ohio University, Affiliated Hospitals at Canton, and Gastroenterology Fellowship in MCP/Hahnemann University Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia. He has completed training in advanced pancreaticobiliary therapeutic procedures and esophageal motility disorders. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. In addition to his clinical practice he has conducted research on gastrointestinal hormones and regulatory peptides, for which he has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the Dean of Medical School of UNR. He graduated summa cum laude from medical school. He has presented at many international meetings and has published extensively. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is married to Dianna Zafirov and has two daughters, Zdravka and Jackie, and a son, Chris.

Anthony M. Daniels, M.D.

CURRICULUM VITAE

Anthony M. Daniels, M.D., completed his training in Internal Medicine (1996) and fellowship in Gastroenterology (1999) at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C.  He was the Chief of the Gastroenterology Service at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg from 2000 to 2006.  He served as a Battalion Surgeon with the 82nd Airborne during a tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Medical Association and the North Carolina Medical Society.  He is married to Joan Daniels and has three sons, Anthony, Austin and Avery.
